Submitting Public Comments on agenda and non-agenda items

The public can comment on any closed session, open session or non-agenda item at Board Meetings. While meetings are held remotely during the COVID-19 closure, you may submit your comments via email or voicemail, with a time limit of three minutes per comment.

Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker, but no more than 20 minutes will be allowed per subject.

For Email:
Public comments on closed session items can be made by sending an email to boardcomments@lbcc.edu by 2 p.m. PST on the day of the meeting. For open session or non-agenda items, emails must also be received by 2 p.m. PST. In your email, please provide: your first and last name; and the agenda item/number you would like to comment on within the subject title.

For Voicemail:
Public comments on closed session items can be recorded on voicemail by calling (562) 938-4700 and recording your statement before 2 p.m. PST on the day of the meeting. For open session or non-agenda items, voicemails must also be received by 2 p.m. PST. Please be sure to include your first and last name and the agenda item/number before you record your three-minute statement.

Submitted emails will be read and voicemails will be played during the meeting. If you would like to confirm that your statement does not go beyond the timeline, you can enter your statement into this words-to-time calculator for a simple result: https://edgestudio.com/words-to-time-calculator.

Typically, speaking for three minutes is approximately 450 words.
